Biography

Margaret was born to Jacob Newton and Maria Blanch HerObituary tells her story:

At the advanced age of 79 years the death occurred in the M.R.D. Hospital, Taree, on Tuesday morning last at 4.45, of Mrs Margaret Maybury, who had been a resident of Nabiac. She had been ailing for some time, and entered hospital about a month ago. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Newton, of Myall Lakes, where she was born. She was first married to Mr William Munro, at Taree, about 58 years ago. He died 47 years ago on January 26 1885. Of that union the following children survive: Mr Jacob Munro of Wauchope, Mr William Munro of Casino and Mrs W Affleck of Forster. Deceased members of the family are Phillip Munro of Taree, Mrs. Jack Worth of Wang Wauk, Miss Mary Munro of Taree and Mrs. George Martin of Krambach.

The late Mrs Maybury was a fine type of the old North Coast pioneer and was always popular wherever she lived. Her home and family were always her first care, and her demise is regretted by a large circle of relatives and friends. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon last. The Rev. R.V. Hanington (Anglican minister on the Wallamba) conducted a service in the Nabiac Church, and then the casket was taken to the Failford cemetery for interment where Rev Hanington completed the burial service.
