St Matthew, Ardwick, Lancashire, England.
Son of James and Emma (deceased) Newton of 92 Mornington St. C. on M. (Verger of S. Matthew's, Ardwick). On the same day Ernest's brother Arthur and his wife May baptised their daughter Edna Mary. [3][4]
Ernest was told that he was the 13th child but he could only name 10 including himself. Research has discovered 2 of the missing children but, if the story is true, there is still one yet to find.
Even though Ernest was born in mid-May, he was told that on the day that he was born, there was snow up to the upstairs windows on the house they lived in.
