This note was here when I took over the profile. Answer below:
His parents are given as Howard and May Newton on his indexed marriage record, Abraham and Hester Newton on his indexed birth record, and Absolom and Silvester Newton on the census. I can see where Abraham = Absolom and Hester = Silvester, but where did Howard and May come from? -Nelson-3486 10:28, 4 August 2016 (EDT)
Answer: Absolom's middle name was Howard. Silvesta's middle name was Mae. The census taker that year must not have been able to spell their first names so they just used the middle name. You can see through the years that for the census takers and these two, the struggle was real. (Barb Buckley 11/11/2021)
