In a 26 October 1745 court deposition concerning property boundaries, Moses Nicholls stated his age to be "about forty-one years." He witnessed the appraisal of Joseph Nicolls' estate as "next of kin" along with Joseph's brother John, but a question remains as to the identity of his mother, since he was born so much later than the other children of John Nicoll and Margaret Alford, and he was not mentioned in John Nicoll, Sr.'s 1707 will. Moses sold a complete set of Dorchester Co. household goods in 1736; this was presumably when he left for whereabouts as yet unidentified, for he appeared no more in Dorchester Co. records. That he died by 1772 is evidenced by the fact that his son, Moses Jr., sold his remaining Dorchester Co. property, "Rachel's Desire" that year as his legitimate heir.

RBN Notes: That Moses Nicholl(s) married Margaret Dawson Cromean is evident from the fact that he petitioned the county for a resurvey of Skipton, a tract of land left in part to Margaret by Daniel Cromean. Moses and his brother Benjamin acquired adjacent parcels of land in 1730, warranted as "Rachel's Garden" and "Benjamin's Desire" respectively.
