Biography

Henry Nichols was born about 1859 in Missouri.[1]

In June 1860, one-year-old Henry was living with William and Mary Parker and their seven older children (all born in the state of Maine) in Township 61, near Gentryville, of Gentry County, Missouri. William and two of his older sons were working as farmers. William owned $1275 in real estate and $490 in personal property, most likely agricultural tools and some household items.[1]

In 1875, sixteen-year-old Henry was living with William and Mary Parker and their son C.H. in the Township of Montana in Jewell County, Kansas. Their post office was just across the state line in Superior, Nuckolls County, Nebraska. William was working as a preacher and Mary as a domestic. C.H. was working as a miner, and Henry was a farm laborer. William had $140 in real estate and $423 in personal property. The family had moved to Jewell County from the state of Missouri.[2]

Notes

Research: The 1875 Kansas census leads me to believe he was adopted by William & Mary. In the 1860 census, many of the children have middle names listed so it wasn't clear until this one where the others are listed as Parker and he is listed only as Henry Nickels.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Henry by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Henry:
