Mary Elizabeth Nichols was born on 31 December 1884 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia ^[1], the daughter of Francis Sydney Stephen Nichols and Mary Esther Mitchell and the sister of Norman Lancelot Nichols, Irena Amanda Nichols, Rowland Francis Nichols and Doris Kate Violet (Nichols) Hunter.

She married Carl Otto Schroder on 17 March 1904 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia ^[2] and their children were Carl Conrad Sidney Schroder, Catherine Esther Schroder and Francis Schroder.

Mary died on 15 January 1966 at Chatswood, New South Wales, Australia ^[3] and she was buried in the Macquarie Park Cemetery and Crematorium, North Ryde, New South Wales, Australia ^[4].
