Oh, my email is [email address removed] and my name is Diane Stark McConnell Sanfilippo -
back to William - we DO know the name of his wife 'Alcey' but not her surname and we DO know that she died after William, so there were not other marriages. We do not know anything further. We believe they are buried on private land which is fairly inaccessible in Carroll County, GA where they settled with some of their family after leaving Washington County (later Roane, etal) TN - most of their children were born in TN even before it became a state. Would really appreciate you changing your information so that others can have the documented facts and I will gladly share any of it with you. All I want is for the truth to prevail through the centuries as it was incredibly difficult to sort it out.
As the coordinator of the Descendants of Captain William York I DO wish you would change his biography to the documented facts that we have found. I proved that he was the captain of the Troop of Horse from Randolph County, NC and found the approval of his pension in the Library of Congress - approved for his heirs in 1860! Having also taken part in the York DNA project we KNOW that he is NOT the son of any known York to this date - with a haplogroup of J2 it is not even remotely possible. We do NOT know the name of is parents, his date of birth but are using the date of the average Rev war soldier of abt 1755. We DO know the date of his death and the name of his wife. There was NOT any other York who reached the rank of captain and he was probably chosen because he was literate.
