James resided at Ellenville, Princetown Road, Bangor, County Down, Ireland. [1]
From 1896 he was educated at Queens University as a surgeon. [2]
From 1903 he was a missionary doctor in Tanna, Vanuatu (an island east of Australia). [2]
James died of a heart seizure[2] in 1934[3], aged 62.
In 2006 James's granddaughter Barbara Mayne authored a biographical book about him. [2]
