William was born in Ireland in 1876. [1]
He was named after a local Reverend. [2]
In 1901, aged 24 years, he was a clerk in Bangor, County Down, Ireland.
His first wife was Ellison Marshall, with whom he had three children before her death.
In 1928 he married his second wife, Fanny Collett.
WP used to boast that he had the same blood in his veins as fierce Brigadier General John Nicholson.
William suffered a heart attack while returning to Ireland by ship, and died on 29 October 1959, aged 83, in Victoria Hospital, County Cork, Ireland.
His funeral was held in Hamilton Road Presybyterian Church, Bangor.
He was buried in Clandeboye Cemetery.
