John Shook died in 1889 and was buried in Shook Family Cemetery, Rabun County, Georgia. Rebecca died June 12, 1897 and was buried with him.
Researcher's Notes
Rebecca's Find A Grave memorial has her first name as Rebecca Jane and her middle name as Nicholson. A suggestion has been sent to the memorial manager that the name Nicholson be moved to the Maiden Name field, which will facilitate finding it. Also suggested that the sate of birth be changed from Kentucky to South Carolina. [5]
Two additional children, Claburn Hankins (1843–1888) and George Hankins (1860–1947) are attributed to Rebecca Jane on her Find A Grave memorial. Clearly, she is not their mother and did not have time to marry Alexander Hankins, since she was having children with John Shook at the time of the birth of the Hankins children, and her first husband did not die until 1889
