In 1851, the newly weds were living at Overgate East Side in Kinghorn, Fife. James was a 27 year old skinner born in Kinghorn and Isabella was also 27 years old and born in Kinghorn. They have one child, Michael, aged 7 mos. [8]
By 1861 the family were living on the High Street in Kinghorn. James was 37 and a journeyman skinner born in Kinghorn. Wife Isabella was 36 and they have three children living with them: Michael 10, Alexander 8, and Isabella 6.[9]
For some strange reason, the father in the first three children was written as Thomas yet the parents declaration on Isabella's birth said they had three boys and one was deceased.
