Biography

Jane Woodward nee Niles married Samuel Woodward (1785-1850) in1815. On Census night in 1851 she is found in the Trevilley home of her unmarried son John Woodward a 32 year old, miner, born Crantock . Jane is 59 years old and a labourer's wife, born Cubert. Also in the same home that night are Izzet Woodward, 24 years old and Stephen Woodward, 21 years old, sister and brother of John. Simon Woodward, 9 years a scholar and nephew is also listed.

Simon's mother had died in childbirth and his father Samuel had emigrated to America with Simon's two older siblings around 1841. Simon lived with his grandmother and later other family members. On 13/12/1875 Simon Woodward married Mary Jane Vincent in Redruth Registry Office and emigrated to Australia arriving at Port Adelaide 1/4/1876 on the ship "Golden Sea" Cornish Parish Registers. Marriage Certificate of Simon and Mary Jane in my possession Australian information relating to Simon Woodward, my Great Grandfather, word-of mouth from family members who lived/visited with him.
