Biography

Elizabeth Burt, daughter of Robert Nisbet and Rachel Murray, was born 09 Mar 1843 and baptised on 30 Apr 1843 in Old Monkland or Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland.[1]

In the 1851 Census of Scotland Elisabeth Nisbet (age 8) was the daughter of Robert Nisbet in Legbranock, Legbranock, Bothwell, Lanarkshire.[2]


John's marriage to Elizabeth Nisbet was registered in 1865 in the Bathgate district.[3]


In the 1871 Census of Scotland John Hamilton (age 25), Labourer, was the head of household at 9 Young Street, Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire.[4]

Her husband John Hamilton died (age 31) on 22 Oct 1877 in Hamilton, Lanark, Scotland Hamilton, Lanark, Scotland in a mining accident, explosion of firedamp at Blantyre Colliery. He was buried Cambusnethan widow is Elizabet Nisbet.[5] Her brother George Nisbet (1848-1877) was also a victim in same mining accident. Blantyre Colliery Disaster 1877.

In the 1881 Census of Scotland Elizabeth Hamilton (age 37), Annuitant, was the head of household at 11 Young St., Wishaw, Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire.[6]

Possibly her in the 1891 Census of Scotland Elizabeth Hamilton (age 47), Grocer, was the head of household at 52 Struthers St, Glasgow Barony, Lanarkshire.[7]

In the 1900 United States Federal Census Elizabeth Hamilton (age 57) was the widowed head of household in Boston Ward 22, Suffolk, Massachusetts.[8]

Elizabeth, daughter of Robert Nisbet & Rachel Murie, died (age 65) on 23 Nov 1908 in Boston, Massachusetts, United States.[9]
