Biography

Sir William Nesbit of Dean was born about 1600 and was the Provost of Edinburgh. He was the father of Janet Nesbit who married John Murray of Touchadam & Polmaise.

1704 John Murray of Touchadam burgess and guildbrother by right of father JOHN MURRAY who had right by wife (BLANK) daughter of HENDRIE Nisbet of DEAN, sometimes provost of EDINBURGH burgess and guildbrother by act of council of 10 Nov dispensing with fathers omission to enter 29 Nov 1704– -- ^[1]

John Murray of Touchadam and Polmaise. Will recorded 10th January 1690 (Stirling). Served heir to his father 13th May 1643. M.P., Stirlingshire, 1645-46, 1648, 1661-63.

He married Janet, daughter of Sir WILLIAM Nisbet of Dean, Provost of Edinburgh, and had issue : — Oldest son Major William Murray, baptised 2nd October 1648 NO REFERENCE??

John Murray of Touchadam, retoured heir general to his father on 13 May 1643, and m. Janet, daughter of Sir JOHN Nisbet of Dean.

Note: Sir WILLIAM of Dean bailie merchant burgess of Edinburgh provost of Edinburgh, and 2nd marriage to Katherine Dick had a daughter Janet baptized ~ 13 Jul 1623 she was sister of WILLIAM only son Dean served heir to his father 17th October 1639 ~ 27 Jun 1624 +Oct 1655 married Dame Margaret Murray, dau of John Murray of Polmais, she remarried Mr Alexander Persone of Balmadies I suspect this is the Janet but the references need to be checked
