Biography

Mary Ann Nix is born on April 24, 1865 in Stroud, New South Wales, Australia, the daughter of Thomas Nix (1820-1909) and Elizabeth Curtis (1837-1872) [1][2][3]. Her father, Thomas, had arrived in Australia from England in 1853. Her mother, Elizabeth, was born in in Essex, England.

Mary Ann marries Thomas Greenham (1865-1945) on August 27, 1884 in Stroud [3]. Some genealogical records show the surname of Thomas as “Graham,” [1][2] and this probably occurs because of a mis-spelling in the marriage record [3][7].

Mary Ann and Thomas have eight children:

• Muriel Elizabeth Dulcie Greenham 1885-1958 + (1906) William James (Bill) Phillips c1875-1956

• Henry Thomas Walter Greenham 1886-?

• Walter James Frederick Greenham 1888-1917

• Jack Rodford Greenham 1890-1963 + (1932) Hilda Grace Muddle 1902-1947

• Fanny Charlotte Greenham 1892-1969 + Patrick Alfred Coughlin 1884-1938

• Coral N (Tot) Greenham 1894-1920

• Mary C. Greenham 1896-?

• Eva Florence Greenham 1900-1978+ (1922) Jack Daunt 1898-1975

Mary Ann dies on July 2, 1903 in Stroud[3][4].

Thomas re-marries at some point. His second wife is Clara Elizabeth Humphrey [5][6]. Thomas dies on November 17, 1942 in Stroud. [3][5][6].
