Allen Nixon shared a common paternal (Nixon) ancestor with these Nixon men:
Robert Nixon (bef. 1741-abt. 1780) - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Nixon-3141
Robert Jim Nixon (abt. 1790-1835) - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Nixon-358
Rev. Stephen Nixon Sr. (abt. 1754-abt. 1816) - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Nixon-3709
George Nixon Sr. (abt. 1730-1806) https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Nixon-4957
Allen/Allan Nixon's Will was proved in Hardwick Twp., Sussex County, NJ, on 24 March 1774. In it, he mentions his wife, Catherine; sons William, John, Allan, and Patrick, and daughters Mary, Grace, and Elizabeth. His LW&T was witnessed by his son Allan, wife Catherine, Nathan Armstrong, Affie Armstrong, William Nixon, and George Armstrong.
Allen Nixon is, per a descendant of his family who lived in California circa 1900, quite likely to be related to Col. Ethan Allen. Indeed, that surname may well be the source of Allen's own given name, and circumstantial evidence thereof. Per that descendant, it was not merely a possibility, but a fact.
Likewise, the same descendant claimed descent from Col. John Nixon, famous for having been the first one to publicly read the Declaration of Independence, both through his mother's Nixon ancestors.
Further, Allen Nixon is also quite likely related (cousins of a fairly close degree) to Gen. Richard Montgomery who led the Colonial invasion of Canada in 1775, who died in battle on 31 December 1775. General Montgomery was buried with honors by the Canadians, then his remains were later exhumed and returned to USA, to his wife, Janet, nee Livingston, in New York, and re-interred in Manhattan.

One of Allen Nixon's ancestors or cousins (highly likely, but not yet absolutely certain), was a Mary Montgomery, daughter of Alexander Montgomery. Mary (nee) Montgomery had, in turn, married into the Nixon Family of Northern Ireland.
The marriage between Mary Montgomery and Alexander Nixon took place on 20 June 1758 in Tyholland Bridge, County Monaghan, Ireland.
No longer having any male heirs, Alexander Montgomery named a son of Alexander Nixon and Mary (Montgomery) Nixon to be his heir, and in turn, that heir bore the Montgomery surname, not Nixon, in order to keep the ancestral family property in the Montgomery family name.
In addition to that Montgomery-Nixon connection, there is the matter of Allen Nixon's own mother, Margaret Montgomery, and it is likely this Margaret Montgomery was related to Alexander Montgomery and his daughter, Mary.
