- Thomas Williams, the land of John Kail and others" (Northern Neck
- Grants Y, pp. 606-607). "The Combs Cemetery is located on the western
- slope of a double knoll overlooking Kickapoo Creek (NW 1/4 of Section
- 14, Rosefield Twp.). Three magnificent white oak trees spread their
- shade over the graves. ... Land for the cemetery was donated by John
- Combs, the first supervisor, in 1850 and grew up around 'Combs Meeting
- House,' the first Methodist Church in Rosefield Twp. ... The Church stood
- approximately at the present gateway to the cemetery and faced south. It
- was subsequently removed to Cottonwood."
