COUNCILLOR DAVID NIXON

(Narraburra Shire). Councillor Nixon was one of the first councillors appointed by the Department under local government, together with none Help Councillors Lucas, De Little, Hawkins, and Murphy, for the Narraburra Shire. He is one of the oldest pioneers In the Reefton district, having taken up land between Temora and Barmedman in 1887, when Cootamundra was the nearest railway station and Grenfell the nearest Lands Office. In those days there was only wool produced in the district, now the pro- duction is of a varied character. Mr. Nixon is carrying on mixed farming suc- cessfully, having Reefton siding within a mile of his land, of 6,670 acres. Last year he had 3600 acres under wheat and oats.

Temora Identity's Death TEMORA, Tuesday Mr. David Nixon.of "Hazelwood" Reefton, died in a private hospital after a long illness. He is survived by a widow, three sons and a married daughter, Mrs. Ewers of Ungarie. Mr Nixon was a resident of teh district for more than 40 years. He took an active part in the affairs of the district, and has been a member of Narraburra Shire COuncil continuously since the adoption of local government. He served two terms as shire president.
