According to Frederick's 1851 and 1870 censuses, he was born about 1812-1815 in Ireland, although his 1880 census reports England.
In 1836, Frederick was assessed taxes on 100 acres, 10 cultivated. He lived next door to Henry Nixon, who was likewise assessed taxes on 90 acres, 10 cultivated.
He married Ann Glazier in 1838 in Home Township, Algoma, Canada West, British Colonial America.
Frederick probably had a brother named Henry, born about the same time/place. See Research Notes, below.
In 1868, Frederick Nixon, age 52 (born about 1816) was assessed taxes in Albion. At the time, he lived next door to William Lindsay, age 48 (born about 1820). In turn, William Lindsay may have been related to the Christopher Lindsay (1803-1886) who married Margaret Nixon (1810-1887).
William Lindsay (69, born 1799) and Joseph Lindsay (57, born 1811) are on the previous tax assessment page, as is William Hawson (68, born 1800).
John Lindsay Sr. and Jr. are on the page before that.
George Nixon (24, born 1844), Frederick's son, is on the page following Frederick.
In 1869, Fred (age 52) was assessed taxes in Albion Township.
About 1870, Frederick and Ann immigrated to Missouri, USA.
He was buried at the Methodist church cemetery in Amity, Missouri
Frederick's FindAGrave listing is here: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/5186635/frederick-nixon
NOT listed below in the sources because it will flag an error, due to birthplace being different, England, instead of Ireland.
1842 Ontario/Canada Census - unable to find him.
There are a William, Joseph, and Hugh living in what appear to be the correct place.
Where was Frederick in early 1840's?!!
There was a Frederick Nixon living in Spring Garden, Philadelphia, Pa. in 1840. He was age 20-30 (right age), had a wife age 20-30 (right age), and had a daughter age 0-5 (right age).
There was also a Henry Nixon living in "Walnut Ward" of Philadelphia in the 1840 Census.
That Henry's household consisted of:
1m0-5, 1m20-30, 1m60-70, 2f5-10, 1f10-15, 2f15-20, 4f20-30
Henry is most likely the male age 60-70... but the alleged brother/cousin of Frederick was also supposed to be the son of a Henry Nixon... who might be the Henry age 60-70.
