Biography

John Nolan

He married Martha Decker.

He was a farmer when he and Martha appeared on the census of 23 June 1870 at Pineville, McDonald, Missouri. Her parents were listed next to them.[1] He and Martha appeared on the census of 2 June 1880 at Mcmillan, McDonald, Missouri. Her parents were listed next to them.[2]

John died before 14 June 1897, the date Martha filed for a widow's pension, [3] probably in McDonald County, Missouri and was buried at Anderson Cemetery, Anderson, McDonald County, Missouri. His memorial has a photo of his headstone recognizing his military service.[4]

Note

Came from Ireland, and was a Civil War veteran. Bill Mitchell has his Civil War records. On those records, his name is spelled, "Nolin." He is buried in the old part of the old cemetery at Anderson, McDonald County, Missouri. They moved from Pulaski County, Missouri to McDonald County, Missouri, living in the town of Coy-west of Anderson and north of what is now Highway 76. Perhaps, near Patterson Creek, according to Bill Mitchell.
