Michael was listed as age 8 on the 1851/2 census, suggesting he was born in 1844[1]. On the 1861 Census, he is listed as born in Wellesley Township, Waterloo Co.,[2] which is consistent with the Gazetteer and Directory of the County of Wellington published in 1867, which said the James Nolan family settled in the area in 1843.
Michael is not listed on the 1871 Census for Wellesley township, but is listed as a beneficiary in his father's will, dated 1873.
A family history started by Inez Potter Loughrige, dated 1979, lists a spouse for Michael named Ruth, but no other evidence for this has been located.
