Cyril was the 11th of 12 children in the John and Bertha Nolan family.[1] He grew up in Davenport, Iowa.[2][3][4][5][6] He followed his older brother Roger to Notre Dame, and attended the Notre Dame College of Law, from 1927-30.[7]. He also played on the 1930 Notre Dame baseball team. [8]
After returning to Davenport, he practiced law[9] and served as a Director of Northwest Bank & Trust. He was also a city alderman.
He married Gladys Smallfield in Scott County when he was 32.[10]
He died of lymphocytic lymphoma in Davenport at the age of 77.[11][12] Cyril is buried with his wife in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, in Davenport.[13]
