I have been blessed to grow up in Germany when I was a child and thus began my fascination with languages, of which I speak a few. This situation also set my travel and discovery desire which I indulge in every day by way of being an international flight attendant.
I have lived in Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France, along with a multitude of states in the United States. When I was a young man, I started to do mild research with my family tree, discovering along the way that my mother's family line descends through the Norman Celts, with a strong showing in early Scotland. We've fought against the British a lot and we've fought for the British (Scottish) king. My mother's surname Montgomery has a colorful and rich history on the Isle.
Since the mid-1600's, my paternal father's family had been established in the colony of Virginia, help founding the region around Powhatan. At the time, they seemed wealthy enough, but the Civil War was a great leveler and the family has since declined in their financial acuity.
I also study my step-father's family line, but as he is African American (Black), it's difficult to overcome some early issues, such as being classified as white, mulatto or black. This had led to many errors on the part of prior researchers and I am hitting many brick walls. I know there's only so far one can go with this research line, but I'd like to shore it up as best I can.

P.S. I think the United Kingdom Project is part of the Irish one. So go have a look! :D
Many people enjoy adding ancestors until they connect to a branch of the tree that includes the 7.8 million profiles connected to each other by blood, marriage, or adoption. You'll know you're connected when you add a link to a family member who is already present on the tree and has a box at the bottom of their profile mentioning connections to Queen Elizabeth, Nikola Tesla, Kurt Vonnegut, etc. The following night the servers update to show how you connect to those folks, and therefore to all of us.
