Biography
George Bowling Norris Jr. was born to George Bowling Norris Sr. and Ruth Hassell Norris on 20 May 1918 in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. He was the only child born to either parent. He grew up in Memphis and attended Central High School. He graduated from Yale University in 1939. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Marie-Louise Cone in San Diego, California on 7 February 1942. They were the parents of two daughters, Patricia Marie and Nancy Ruth. They were divorced about 1948. He married Betty Ann Bass in Knoxville Tennessee on 5 April 1950. They were the parents of four children. He worked for advertising companies in Chicago and New York. He died in Memphis on 25 January 1976. He is buried in Elmwood Cemetery there.
