Mary Ellen Norris was born 30 Nov 1856 in Virginia to James Norris and Malinda Hall (per county death record). Mary resided with parents and siblings in Lewis County, Virginia in 1860^[1] and in Lewis County, West Virginia in 1870.^[2]

Peter Laben Hull and Mary Ellen Norris were married in 1879 in Lewis County, West Virginia. The record states they were married on 1 May 1879; it says he was 33 and she was 22. The county document also stated that he was born in Highland County and she was born in Harrison County and that both were residents of Lewis County.^[3]

In 1880, the family resided in Lewis County, West Virginia; the household consisted of Peter L., Mollie E. and two children from his first marriage, Sarah I. and Israel S. Hull. ^[4]

Peter and Mary were the parents of Clyde Spellman Hull (1881-1957)^[5] and John Harley Hull (1890-1958)^[6]

In 1900, Peter L. and Mary E. resided with Sarah, Clyde and Harley in Lewis County, West Virginia.^[7] In 1910, Peter L. and Mollie Hull resided with son Clyde (with his wife Laura and son), son John H and foster child Hope Myers in Lewis County, West Virginia.^[8] In 1920, Peter L. and Mary E. Hull resided in Lewis County, West Virginia.^[9]

Widow Mary Hull resided in Lewis County, West Virginia (next to the household of son John H Hull in Freemans Creek).^[10]

Mary Hull died on 23 Jun 1932 in Freemans Creek District, Lewis County, West Virginia. The county death record stated Nora Norris Hull was born 30 Nov 1856 and died 23 Jun 1932 in Lewis County, West Virginia. It stated that her husband was Peter Hull and her parents were James P. Norris and Malinda Hall.^[11] She and was buried in Freemansburg United Methodist Church Cemetery, Freemansburg, Lewis County, West Virginia. The tombstone says Hull, Mother, Mary E., 1856-1932.^[12]

Notes and Clues

Mary Ellen "Mollie" Norris (1956-1932) was the daughter of James Spillman Norris (1831-1921) and Malinda Hall (1825-1897); both were buried in Beech Grove Cemetery, Lewis County, West Virginia.

She was not the Mary Elizabeth Norris (1855-1933) who was the daughter of John W. Norris and Jane Minter and who married Benjamin F. Kinsey.
