Harriet went up to London to be an apprentice for a milliner who supplied hats for the Ladies in Waiting to Queen Victoria. The source of this information is Betsy Anne Northey Paynter, Harriet's sister who told this several times to Rachel Herrington Bordeaux, her granddaughter.]
