Biography

Mary grew up on her father's south Rome "muck" garden farm where she was born and at the Northrup home at 414 William Street, Rome, Oneida, New York. The home in south Rome was moved to South Jay Street, Rome (when the New York State Canal was constructed through the Northrup farm) where it remains today (2018). Her Northrup William Street home was torn down in the 1980's.

Mary attended Gordon College, Boston, MA in 1927 for one year of religious training prior to her marriage.

Augustus Weaver Benedict and Mary Evelyn Northrup were married 21 Aug 1928 at the Lake Delta camp of Rev. George B. Scripture, former pastor of the Christian Missionary Alliance Tabernacle at Delta Lake, Rome, Oneida, New York. They took a honeymoon trip to Fair Haven, Red Creek, Victory and other Central New York villages before briefly residing in Rome, New York and later in 1928 relocating to West Brookfield, Madison County, New York.

Mary is buried in Rome Cemetery, Rome, Oneida County, New York, USA, Plot: J-91. She lived to age 99.
