Research Notes

Mother and daughter: Mary (Mills) Norton’s (Mills-3473) profile lists two husbands named Thomas Helme. However, my research shows that her daughter, also named Mary, is the person that married Thomas Helme. Mary Norton (Norton-9153), 1673-1710, married Thomas Helme, 1665-1710, in 1688 in Brookhaven, Suffolk, New York. When I add Thomas as Mary’s spouse, there are issues with husband and sibling relationships. I believe that Mary Mils (mother) married only once to Nathaniel Norton.Wilbur-1646 19:32, 8 January 2021 (UTC) Anonymous Wilbur

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:

Norton-9153 and Norton-2524 appear to represent the same person because: She was baptized in Woodbury, Connecticut, church of her grandfather.

Victoria, I have added information to this profile. You have vital records for two different people. Which Mary is she? Please decide and then propose a merge with one or the other of the two profiles.

Should you choose to ignore this comment, I will just choose one or the other at random.

A Wilbur - the marriage record for Mary Norton indicates that she had a previous marriage to Nathaniel Mills.
