Richard was a sailor, maybe a Capt. as stated on his headstone. I have never been able to find any solid sources as to which ships he sailed on, other than the baptism of his son Thomas Lee Norton which states he worked on the Steamer Montmorenci (1857). Richard settled in Canada after he married his wife Hannah Jeffrey in 1854.
I have a letter that was written to him by a niece & nephew in 18__, M & R Brock. More research led me to the Brock family of 93 Glenarm Road in Hackney, England. Richard's sister Martha had married a Robert Brock, although they were both deceased by 1879, it seems the children kept in touch with their Canadian relatives.
Richard was born in 1819.[1] He passed away in 1893.
