Biography

Elizabeth Noyes was born at Stonington, Connecticut, before 22 Dec 1706 (her baptismal date). She and her sister Dorothy (who was baptized in June of 1706) were the first two children of Thomas Noyes and Elizabeth Sanford.

Elizabeth Noyes married 29 Apr 1723 at Westerly, Rhode Island, Ichabod Palmer. As an interesting anecdote, according to the Palmer Groups reference, their marriage "was one of the very few elopements which ever took place in the quiet village of Stonington, and owed its occasion to the fact that Elizabeth Noyes was "of one of the celebrated" old families, "that of the Rev. James Noyes," one of the "Yale's first corporate fraternity, the Newport Sanfords and Governor Brenton."

There were 10 children of this family during the ensuing timeframe through January 1748.

Note: This Elizabeth Noyes was not a spouse of Abijah Palmer; he was married first to Dorothy Palmer, then Bridget Stanton.

Elizabeth (Noyes) Palmer died 6 Jan 1761 (aged 54). Her grave is in Palmer Cemetery, North Stonington, New London County, Connecticut, USA:Find A Grave: Memorial #20764977

Note: According to Palmer Groups Elizabeth died on 24 Dec 1760.
