William Nunn was born in 1772, in Orange county, North Carolina and died in 1825, in Stokes county, North Carolina formed in 1789 from Surry County. William married Sarah Beasley, Beasley and became the father of Martha (Nunn) Collins, James Nunn, Sarah "Sally" Nunn, Nisa Nunn, Hannah Nunn, William A. Nunn, Equire Nunn, Richard Nunn, Major Nunn, and Elizabeth Nunn. [1]
He is found living in Stokes county, North Carolina on the United States census of 1810 as William "Nunns," [2] and as Wm Nunn in 1820 [3]

William Nunn, 23 Apr 1828, pro April Term 1828 Wife Sally- lifetime estate. Four sons: William, Squire, Major, and Richard, estate at the death of wife, provided William comes home and discharges duties of a good boy with his Mother; if not, he is to receive with his sisters Betsy, Martha, Sally, and Nisa who shall have but each. Son James by my first wife (not named), . Exs: Sally Nunn and John Simmons.
