William Callahan recounts that he lived in West Newton, attended Roxbury Latin and Harvard and met Ruth several times but didn't know she was a relative. My mother had a beef with the Callahan family, so we didn't get to know that part of the family. Mary Grace Harkins, was a stern, grand dame and very religious.

I was so very fortunate to have Miss Odonnell as my 6th grade school teacher at the Peirce School (59-60). I have so many fond memories of our poetry and music classes. She instilled in all of her students a sense of self respect and trust. I was a shy student and she would walk behind me during the 'pledge of allegiance' and softly tap me between my shoulder and follow this with her warm smile. Preceeding music class she would remind her students of a favorite saying:'if you can sing and you won't sing...you ought to be in 'sing sing'...She has been a tremendous influence in my life. Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful photos!

Ruthie loved my younger brother Geoff. Every time she came for a visit she would bring him a box of jelly doughnuts. She declared that Geoff would either be the first American Pope or, the youngest inmate in the Concord Reformatory.

Her nickname for Geoff was 'Dillinger'.
