Biography

Mary (maiden name Halloran or O'Halloran) was born to Morris and Mary (O')Halloran in County Kerry, Ireland, around 1830. An external genealogy suggests a birth town of Tralee and the maiden name O'Halloran, however, a family record suggests a maiden name of Dardis. DNA analysis suggests that either she or her husband were from an area near the border of northern County Kerry and eastern County Limerick; this corresponds pretty closely to Tralee. By 1860, she was in St. Louis and married to Flerry McCarthy. She was widowed on August 27, 1910. Mary died in Waterloo, Iowa, on March 25, 1920, and was buried in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Farley.
