Domhnall "an t-Ogdhamh" (Donald the Young Ox), sometimes called "Donal the Hero", was a Prince of Tyrone, and a son of Aedh 'Athlamhan' (Aodh Athlamh, King of Ailech).
He was styled a King of Ulster (with opposition), though in effect, he was a pretender to the northern throne for five years until he died in 1057, killed by Mac Lochlainin, the effective king. [1]
the Leabhar Chlainne Suibhne tells the story that Aodh Athlomhan had two sons who quarrelled, Anradhan and Domhnall; though Anradhan was the younger, he took his father's place as chief of the clan, but cursed by Domnhall, Anrahan left Ireland to settle in Scotland.
Domnhall became the ancestor of the O'Neill's of Ulster.
