DNA websites before you download>>I ask that you please verify your gedcom from ancestry.com prior to uploading here. If you have transferred any ancestors/descendants from the ancestry.com you may have a mess, as I did. The members tree is not accurate. Please check your gedcom file for errors prior to uploading to wikitree. Once you have created a person here on wiki tree you are unable to delete them! This project is with members that have taken this journey very seriously and abide by the code of ethics.

I started DNA testing to seek any medical clues to issues my Dr's were unable to diagnose. My adult daughter was also suffering from same possible food allergies/ gut flora issues. Unfortunately 23andme had to suspend medical data due to federal drug admin ruling. While I waited for the FDA suspension to be lifted, I was approached by several DNA matches discussing other DNA websites. I sent raw data to a 3rd party. These medical data reports helped identify areas of "attention" that I took to my Dr. A few months later I was contacted by one of my "new" DNA cousins that shared a genetic disorder that fit the symtoms.

While I was waiting for the report I began to answer messages from my DNA matches seeking a family members. I soon became more than a novice genealogist and was pretty much addicted to dna data.

I started a membership on ancestry.com to help identify names. I was disgusted to find an ancestry.com member had taken her decades old speculations to the internet for public view! With the help of my new DNA matches and their recommended websites, 5 months later I was able to prove this persons theory wrong.

Unfortunately this member has continued and I am in the process of closing my ancestry.com tree. Her tree has many merged profiles of same name unrelated persons. Unfortunately other member copied the errors into their own tree. So please please be aware of merging profile on ancestry.com. As I shared this story with my DNA cousins, many replied they have "that same type of person" in their family. DNA trumps family rumors and drama.

so again....please review your gedcom carefully prior to uploading to Wikitree. I am open to assisting anyone who is interested in DNA and or document matching.

I still have a lot of dna matches that I can't place. The matches I do have i use them as a paint chip so to say. I take known lineage matches and compare them to other matches. I have been able to assist three adopted cousins with heritage.

I have most of the basics for the family tree done, however, I have a brick wall with my paternal grandmother Ruby Flynn. Her parents immigrated from Ireland and married in Michigan. Eliza Jane Boyd b1865 and Charles Flynn b1865.

My daughter and I are making a slow recovery with enzyme deficiency/food sensitivities. :)

My opinion on DNA testing is that it has been helpful with medical, an interesting journey searching my ancestors and the best $99 I've spent in a long time!

Thank you in advance for cooperating in the global tree and good luck to us all.

hugs, Marybeth

a question to my Dad. ME> "Grandma Ruby's sister, May, has a couple of documents with her name as both Mary B and May B. I wondered what her middle name was, do you know? What is the origin of my name? When I was little, I was told it was your first girlfriends name. is that some kind of joke or is that true?"

MY DAD> "Mary Beth Grummet lived by your Mom's grandmother on the big hill by Butterworth hospital, I met and dated a short time, long before I met your Mom, When I met your Mom she also knew Marybeth, we both liked the name , no joke, I still like your name, but ms. Grummet is long forgotten, there's only one MB in my book."

Hello Marybeth, nice to "meet" you. Sorry to take so long to reply but this week has been a week of health issues which are unlikely to be resolved until it is over. Forgive me for the delay in getting the Boyd's up. FYI, I have yet to track Boyd's that came to the US except for two in the Revolutionary war. That was courtesy of a Prof. at Berkeley. The Boyd's are a mysterious lot chiefly because Herr Hitler in his wisdom destroyed a huge number of Records during the recent unpleasantness between the UK and Germany (the second war at which you were late in arriving). This was followed in the '70's by the IRA real or provisional destroying a few more with a bomb. Thus NI is a difficult place to track unless you have the time to go over there and look for yourself. I am happy to share.

Hi eighteenth cousin! Thank you for your kind note. I see you also have an amazing bio - great work!

Our mutual ancestor is John Savage, Knight of Clifton, 1403 to 1463, and 137 more common ancestors. The Relationship Finder is an amazing thing:)

So very glad you are on WikiTree, cousin!

Hi Marybeth - I did the merge you suggested or at least I think I did. You might have to go back and check my work and clean up. So does this make us cousins? Also, I did the DNA thing - are we close int at? Jeff Thimell

Thank for fixing Thankful Barnes name. Seems fitting for a lady who should be able to lay claim to being "Mother of our Country"!

I am acquainted with Larry Chesebro! We got together online about ten years ago to discuss our similar roots! I can't seem to find much in the way of links for my grandmother, but I know her uncle Elmer and aunt Nan had a large farm in southern lower Michigan. Thanks for the reply!
