James Carter Oakes was born on April 25, 1852 in Henderson, Illinois, United States, son of Thomas Alexander Oakes (1811–1886) and Mary Carter (1819–1892).[1]
James (33) married Martha J Kearney (37) (born in May, 1848 in Ohio, United States) on December 31, 1885 in Stark, Illinois.[2] Their daughter was Frances Margaret Oakes (1889–1972).
James died on October 1, 1921 in Spokane, Spokane, Washington, United States, aged 69. He was buried in Wilson Creek Cemetery, Wilson Creek, Grant County, Washington.[1]
