Abel married Betsey Hamlin Their son was Gardiner Ebenezer Oakes (1808 - 1882).

Abel married Betsey Hamlin on 23 Nov 1792 in Canaan, ME. Their children were:

  1. James Oakes (1800 - 1877)
  2. Ebenezer Gardner Oakes (1808 - 1882)
  3. Lavina (Oak) Saunders (1812 - 1873).

Abel died on 21 Dec 1856 [2]in Sangerville, Piscataquis, Maine, USA aged 85.

Oakes-2221 and Oaks-53 appear to represent the same person because: Parents also being merged. Either name valid as it changed over the years.

Oakes-28 and Oaks-53 appear to represent the same person because: These are duplicates of the same person. Abigail is the only possible mother, since Sarah Wheeler Oaks (Wheeler-1335) died before Abel Oakes/Oaks was born. Oaks was spelled various ways (Oaks, Oakes, Oak) depending on the public records.
