Biography
William Alexander Oates was born 8 Jan 1791 in King's Mountain, North Carolina. He was the son of John Oates II and Mary "Mollie" Henry, who was the widow of Joseph Blackwood and mother of William, James, and John Blackwood. William married Margaret Dickey, daughter of Alexander John and Martha Kidd Dickey (my 5th Great Grandparents on my Dad's side). Together William and Margaret had the following children:
