In the name of God Amen. I Hercules Ogle of the County of Grayson in the State of Virginia, being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and disposing memory (for which I thank God) and calling to mind the uncertainty of Human life and being desirous to dispose of such wordly estate as it hath pleased God to Bless me with. I give and bequeath the same in the following manner. That is to say:

  • I give and bequeath unto Thomas Stroud my sisters son residing in North Carolina in Randolph County. All my smith tools to him and his heirs forever. Also two polls & one Duch oven & griddle, one frying pann. Box Iron and two heaters.
  • I give and bequeath unto Thomas Stroud aforesaid my mare saddle and bridle and my bed and bedding and all my wearing clothes. Also one wire sifter, also five pewter basins and three plates to him and his heirs forever.
  • I give and bequeath to the above mentioned Thomas Stroud all my bonds and notes which is due to me to him and his heirs forever.
  • I give and bequeath to my daughter Lucrecy Scott one shilling current money of Virginia.
  • I give and bequeath unto my daughter Hannah Hale one shilling current money aforesaid:
  • I give and bequeath unto my son John Ogle one shilling current money aforesaid:
  • I give and bequeath unto my son William Ogle one shilling as above said:
  • I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Robins one shilling of the same money;
  • I give and bequeath unto my son James Ogle one shilling of like money:
  • I give and bequeath unto my daughter Naomi Beck one shilling of like money:
  • I give and bequeath unto my son Hyram Ogle one shilling of like money.

Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my firend Thomas Stroud aforesaid my Executor of this my last will & testament hereby revoking all other wills or tesaments by me heretofore made.

In witness whereof I have set my hand and affixed my seal this eighteenth day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and four.

It was son Hercules who served in the War of 1812...

Ogle-1278 and Ogle-56 appear to represent the same person because: same wife and death. Based on ages of children, birth of 1731 is more likely. Looks like birth date for son of 1761 was accidentally added to this person.

Ogle-146 and Ogle-56 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, almost same birth date, I also have the same parents, but not entered on profile. I believe they should be merged. thanks
