Biography

This profile is part of the Ogle Name Study.

Elizabeth or Isabel Ogle[1] (b. bef. 13 Jan 1411), is sometimes recorded as Anne Ogle in antiquarian pedigrees.[2][3][4][5] She was a daughter of Robert Ogle and Maud Grey.

m.2 Sir John Middleton, Knt. of Belsey, Northumberland[6] (living 1441).[1][7]

Research Notes

Disputed Identity: Anne

  • Some sources, including Richardson, indicate that Elizabeth and Anne are the same person. Not sisters. Magna Carta Project backs Richardson's (2011), and Parliament's (n.d.),[2] preference for "Elizabeth" (Isabel),[8] Richardson's Royal Ancestry clearly shows a daughter named Elizabeth by her first husband and an unnamed daughter by her second husband. This latter daughter married Edmund Hasting.[9]

I have made the Magna Carta Project a profile manager as Elizabeth is in a trail identified by Douglas Richardson from a Gateway Ancestor to a Magna Carta Surety Baron.
