Note H9Obituary 11-22-1948: ADAM OLIVER DIES; PIONEER MAKER OF SHOES
Adam H. Oliver, 78 of 157 Harvard St., a pioneer in soft shoe manufacturing for children, died yesterday, (Nov. 21, 1948) after a long illness. Born in Ogdensburg, he came to Rochester 58 years ago. He was at one time president of the Oliver Shoe Co. He was retired treasurer and secretary of the Newcomb & Anderson Shoe Co. A 32d degree Mason, he belonged to Lodge 805 of the F&AM. He leaves his wife, Elizabeth; a son, William W. Oliver of Rush; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Sullivan, Mrs. Katherine Kerr, and Miss Helen Oliver; two brothers, Robert D., of Van Nys, Calif., and George D., of Hammon, N.Y. and five grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chaple of Ingmire & Nagle Funeral Parlors, Chestnut and Court Sts. Burial will be in Mt.Hope Cemetary.
