Alice Oliver was born in the parish adjacent to her future husband, Oliver Penfold. On google maps the area farmed by that branch of the Penfold family is marked by the present Ecclesden Farm, which is on the site of the old, lost, village where the Penfold 20 acre croft stood. The original Ecclesden Farm (not Penfold's) is a short distance to the west, inline with Angmering High Street. Her baptism is recorded in Clapham Register= Clapham St Mary the Virgin

Alice OLYVER

Baptism Date 30-Mar 1590

Father Thomas OLYVER

Mother OLYVER = No mother is named, is there anything to suggest the mother was Joan other than guesswork ? There is evidence from depositions to suggest Thomas moved from Lyminster at this time. But which Thomas, I know of at least 6 alive at that time there.

Olliver-246 and Oliver-3164 appear to represent the same person because: Both born 1591, both married to Hugh Penfold
