Biography

Mary was born 20 Aug 1831[1], the daughter of Cuyler Phillips Moseley and Mary Oliver, apparently an out-of-wedlock birth, since Cuyler P. Mosley had Mary Ann's name legally changed from OLIVER to MOSLEY February 16, 1850, Montgomery County, GA[2].

She appears on the 1850[3] census in the household of her father.

She married her first cousin Cuyler Thomas Moseley 8 January 1854 in Montgomery County, Georgia. They share a grandmother, Sarah Phillips Moseley[4][5].

In 1860, they lived in Montgomery County, Georgia with children Melsena, Queen Ann, Cuyler, Amanda, age one, another Amanda, aged twenty-two years (a sister or cousin?), and a man named Joseph Braddy[6]. 1870 finds them still living in Georgia, possibly the same place, with children Queen A., Cuyler P., Amanda (the younger), John F., Margaret A., Rodolphus K., Julia A., Rebecca, Melsena (now with the last name of Moore), and Caroline[7]. In 1880, they were still in Georgia, with their children John W.F., Margaret, Rodolphus K., Julia Ann, Rebecca, Elizabeth, and Alfred Colquitt living at home, as well as cousin Brantley Moseley, and Caroline Moseley, listed as 'other'[8]. By 1900, they lived in the Long Pond area of Montgomery County, Georgia, with Julia A., May R., and Alfred C. still living at home, as well as a servant named Carrie Kirkland [9].

She died 15 December 1905, and was buried in Moseley Cemetery, Uvalda, Montgomery County, Georgia[1].
