The biography of Samuel Scott contains a coherent, well-written account of the relationship of William Pickens and Ann Oliver. That account says that they married in 1752. If that date is correct and if the birth years of William's children are correct, then the mother of Thomas, Margaret, and John is William's first wife, not Ann Oliver.
