John Oliver was a young boy when his father sailed for England. His exact year of birth is unknown, as well as his place of birth. The first mention of him is found in his father's will on 16th of April, 1652. John is given some cattle, and land along the Blackwater River. [1] John Oliver is listed in several deed transactions in the 1660's. In the extant records the land he owns is located on the second branch of the Blackwater River. [2] His wife is not known. He may have removed into North Carolina after 1695.
This John Oliver is in Virginia twenty years before a different John Oliver marries Barbara Machin in Durham, England. They are completely different people.
