Ockert Petrus Jacobus was born in Nooitgedacht, Oudtshoorn, in 1832 to Willem Gerhardus Olivier and Catharina Elizabeth Fourie.
Troue
He was farming at Nooitgedacht when he married Ignasina Catharina du Preez, who hailed from Armoed, in the Saligna Valley Dutch Reformed Church in Mossel Bay in 1852.[1]

Ockert was a 70 year old farmer from Vaalbank in the Orange Free State when he was incarcerated in the British Concentration Camp in Springfontein. He succumbed to enteric fever in the Camp Hospital in 1902.[3]
