The marriage record gave him around 35 years of age, origin being parish of Cork in Ireland, his parents being Jean Houe and Élizabeth Ming. He is listed as soldat de la compagnie de M. Le Verier; present at the marriage are named: Étienne Rocbert garde magasin du roy, Jacques Urbain Rocbert de la Morandière écrivain du roy dans le dit magasin, Louis Denis contrôleur pour le roy, Jean Crispin marchand bourgeois de la ville de Québec and several others unnamed. The husband could not sign, his wife could.

Élisabeth died on 23 aug 1757 in Montréal's General Hospital, being buried the next day, the record estimated her age at 80 and listed her deceased husband only as Jolycoeur[4]
