In the Who’s Who of 1911 it is stated that: E’Gedion Otto Olivier was a Merchant, born on the 25th February 1868 in Potchefstroom, the 3rd son of the late C.J.J Olivier of Pretoria. On the 29th March 1892 he married Amy, daughter of the late James Atwell. Four children were born to them.
E’Gedion was, according to Who’s Who, an Inspector and Acting Inspector of Mines, a Town Councillor for Roodepoort, a Member of the Liquor Licensing Board and the District Land Board. Apparently his hobby was shooting . They lived in a very big sprawling house, close to the lake and cept Shetland Ponies as pets. Their postal address, was in Florida
Interestingly a nearby road is called Olivier Road. [2]
