Biography

Nehemiah Olmstead immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

NEHEMIAH, 6th known child of James & Joyce (Cornish) Olmstead, was baptized 10 November 1618. He married by about 1655 Elizabeth Burr, daughter of JEHU BURR, as the first of her three husbands. Source: Great Migration Begins.

Nehemiah died 2 Oct 1657 and is buried in the Old Burying Grounds, Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut.[1]

NEHEMIAH OLMSTED, bap. at Fairsted, Nov. 10, 1618. Came to America with his father, and settled in Fairfield, Conn., in 1649. He married Elizabeth Burr, dau. of Jehu Burr, Sr. He was a sergeant in 1657. Died before Oct. 2, 1657. His widow was appointed administratrix Aug. 1658. Mrs. Olmsted m. (2) Obadiah Gilbert, of Fairfield, Conn. [2]
