Biography

1776 Project
Capt. Stephen Olmsted served with Lexington Alarm - April 1775, Connecticut Militia during the American Revolution.
Daughters of the American Revolution
Stephen Olmsted is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A086318.

Stephen married Hannah Fuller before 1750; they had two children, Susannah (c.1750) and Dorothy (1752).

Stephen married Mercy Freeman sometime between Oct 1754 and February 1764.

His son Stephen (1759) and daughter Hannah (Anna) (1762) may be by either wife. The educated guess is that they are by Mercy, his second wife due to the 7 year gap between Dorothy and Stephen.

His children Mercy (1764), Jonathan (1767), and Aurelia (1775) are by Mercy.

Stephen and others from Connecticut "responded to the Lexington Alarm."

Stephen contracted smallpox while in the army which resulted in his death 26 April 1778 in East Hampton Township, Middlesex County, Connecticut.

He is buried in the Lakeview Cemetery in East Hampton. [1]
